You get more than a guide with Mounatas We had a great trip to the Atlas Mountains and wouldn’t have made the summit of Toubkal without our guides. Thanks to Hassan for putting up with my bad sense of humour and making me and my fiancé feel really safe, relaxed and at home amongst friends for the whole trip!See you again soon, I want to do that scramble up the Ras “Inshallah”.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Toubkal Trek & Morocco Tours: Frequently Asked Questions
How many days do you need to climb Mount Toubkal?
Mount Toubkal (4,167 m) is usually climbed in 2 days from Imlil (1,740 m): day 1 you trek to the Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m), day 2 you reach the summit early in the morning and walk back down. Our 3-day Toubkal climbing tour from Marrakech adds a second night at the refuge, giving you more time to acclimatise and enjoy the mountain.
How much does a Toubkal trek cost?
Our 3-day Toubkal tour starts from $250 per person. The price includes a certified mountain guide, cook and mules, refuge accommodation, full board during the trek and private transfers from and to Marrakech.
Do I need a guide to climb Toubkal?
Yes. Hikers on the Toubkal summit route must be accompanied by a licensed mountain guide. All Mounatas treks are led by certified local guides born and raised in the Imlil valley.
When is the best time to climb Toubkal?
April to June and September to early November are the best months for a non-technical trek. From December to March the summit is usually covered in snow and you need crampons, an ice axe and some winter experience. July and August are hot in Marrakech but pleasant on the mountain.
How far is Imlil from Marrakech?
Imlil is about 65 km south of Marrakech, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes by road via Asni. Our treks and day trips include transfers from Marrakech, so you do not need to organise your own transport.
Which Sahara desert tour should I choose from Marrakech?
The 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga trip (from $400) crosses the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, visits Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and Todra Gorges, and includes a sunset camel trek and a night in a desert camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Take the 3-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour (from $450) if you continue to Fes, or the 6-day and 10-day tours for a slower journey.
Can I book a private or tailor-made tour?
Yes. Every Mounatas tour can be booked as a private tour and adapted to your dates, pace and budget, from a one-day hike in Imlil to a full Morocco itinerary.
