This 4-day trek through the M’Goun Massif in the High Atlas Mountains offers a perfect blend of adventure and cultural immersion. Starting from the Aït Bouguemez Valley, known as the “Happy Valley,” the journey takes you through picturesque Berber villages, lush valleys, and dramatic gorges. You’ll cross the challenging Tizi n’Aït Imi pass (2,900 m) and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. The highlight is reaching Mount M’Goun (4,068 m), the second-highest peak in Morocco. Day 1 :Marrakech to Ikis-n-Arous

After breakfast you leave Marrakech direction East to the small mountain city of Azilal. The way leads you mainly through plains. After a short lunch break in Azilal, you will start your journey to the high mountain by driving over the Tizi-n-Oughbar mountain pass (2230m),which offers a splendid panorama to the massif of M’goun and Oued Lkhder. You will pass through many villages to reach Agouti and finally arrive to Arous where you will meet the group muleteers, who will carry most of your luggage and food for the trek. After a glass of the traditional tea to welcome you to the so called Happy Valley, you start your trek with a short hike to the summer village of Ikis-n-Arous (2350m), where you spend the night in tents. 5.30h driving and 2h walking.

Day 2 :Ikis-n-Arous to Tarkeddit

In the morning you leave Ikis-n-Arous, heading uphill. On the way to the first mountain pass you will meet many nomads, living in the summer villages and you can enjoy the marvelous view back to the Valley of Ait Bouguemez. Finally you reach the mountain pass of Agheray (3400m) from where you can get a first peak of the summit of Jebel Mgoun. Walk down to the base camp of Talkeddit, where you have lunch and can then relax for the rest of the afternoon, getting acclimatized to the height and powering up for the summit day tomorrow. The night is spent again in tents. 4:30 to 5h walking.

Day 3 :Tarkeddit to Igli-n-Tnwout

After an early breakfast you start the ascent to M’goun while the muleteers take a shortcut to the next camp. After about 4 hours you will reach an elevation of 4000m, from where you can enjoy a great view to the south of Morocco: the famous Rose Valley, the Door of the Desert. 1 hour walk on the ridge of Mgoun will lead you to the summit of M’goun at 4068m. A picknick carried by your guide at the top of the mountain will give you the opportunity to enjoy the panorama some more before walking down to the camp in Igli-n-Tnwout for the next night at an elevation of 2400m. 8h walking.

Day 4 :Igli-n-Tnwout to Marrakech

The next morning you head back to Ait Bouguemez Valley via Tizi-n-Ait Imi mountain pass (2906m). After a lunch break in the town of Tabant, a driver safely takes you back to Marrakech where your trek ends.
